Corporate Retreats & Meetings
Eleven guest rooms on a bluff above Smuggler’s Cove, bordering 48,000 acres of meadow and redwood in the Jackson Demonstration State Forest. Book some of the inn, or all of it.
Built in 2001 from eco-salvaged “sinker” logs pulled from the Big River after 150 years in the silt — fifteen thousand board feet of first-growth redwood.

02 · Where you gather
Gathering Spaces
A four-sided wood-burning fireplace, a hand-painted mural, windows onto the pines and the surf. Breakfast each morning, Wine Hour each evening, and the natural room for a full-group session.

The sunset deck looks west over Smuggler’s Cove. Take the whole inn and the kitchen opens up: private dinners, and the Chef’s Table — four courses with champagne and wine pairings, narrated by Executive Chef Stephen Smith.

Please note that private dinners are available for full-house bookings only.

03 · What's laid on
What’s Included
Rates already cover what most properties bill separately.
- Cooked-to-order breakfast — pastries, artisan coffee, organic eggs and fresh-squeezed juice, on a seasonal menu.
- Evening Wine Hour with appetizers by the executive chef. Many find it enough for a light dinner.
- Mendo Boxes — appetizers in room-specific boxes made by local woodworker John Myers from the inn’s own salvaged redwood.
- Wines from Mendocino County vineyards.
- Dietary restrictions accommodated.
- Fireplaces in most rooms, a library, a chess-ready common room and the DVD collection.
04 · Out for the afternoon
Group Activities
All of it can be arranged for a group through the inn.

Hiking
Van Damme State Park starts effectively at the door — hundreds of acres of old growth. Or the three-mile Mendocino Headlands loop along the sea cliffs.
Experience Mendocino
Kayaking
Kayak Mendocino runs rentals and guided tours: blowholes, sea caves, and sea lions in the shallows.

Whale Watching
Gray whales pass close offshore and the bluff is a grandstand seat. The Mendocino Whale Festival runs the first weekend of March.

Vineyards & Wineries
Navarro runs daily tours by reservation. Goldeneye does picnics through to champagne and caviar. Mendovino Wine Bar pours limited-production local vintages.
On-property wellness runs on your schedule too: massage in the Massage Pavilion, private yoga with Sara Bassindale, shinrin-yoku forest bathing in the pygmy forests of Van Damme, and sound healing.
